BasicOps can be integrated with Microsoft Calendar so that tasks and events can be shared between them.
This article will show you how to:
- Choose which Microsoft Calendars to show in the BasicOps calendar.
- Sync BasicOps with a Microsoft Calendar so that Tasks can be displayed and edited in your Microsoft Calendar.
Note: Microsoft Calendar events that are added to the BasicOps calendar can’t be edited.
Choosing your Microsoft Calendars to show in BasicOps
It’s very simple to include your Microsoft calendar events in your BasicOps Calendar. You only need to tell BasicOps which ones to include.
Steps:
- Open Settings.
- Under My Account, select Preferences.
- Select Connect under the Microsoft Outlook icon.
- Fill out the dialog and select your preferred calendars.
Your Microsoft Calendar events and meetings will now be included in BasicOps Home. The image below shows where you can find your events.
When an event is updated in Microsoft it will automatically be updated in BasicOps and in real time.
Note: Updating Microsoft events directly in BasicOps is not possible.
Displaying Microsoft Calendar events in BasicOps
If you wish to show Microsoft Calendar events in BasicOps, you must have your filter section set to include calendar events. To do this you must click on the filter icon in the upper right, and then select include calendar events. Selecting exclude calendar events will block any Microsoft calendar events from being included in the BasicOps calendar.

Syncing BasicOps tasks with a Microsoft Calendar
You can sync your tasks with due dates to one Microsoft Calendar. Then, the calendar will be updated in real time when a task changes. If a task is updated in BasicOps Calendar, the update will be reflected in Microsoft Calendar. Likewise, if a task due date, title, or description is updated in Microsoft Calendar, it will automatically be updated in BasicOps.
How to sync tasks to a Microsoft Calendar
- Open Settings.
- Under My Account, select Preferences.
- Click Select Calendars below the calendar icons (This option will only show if you have connected your calendar)
- Select the calendar that you wish to sync to BasicOps and click Save.
In the example below, a task was just assigned a new due date in BasicOps and then gets added to Microsoft Calendar.
As another example, if you mark a task complete in BasicOps, a gray checkbox will appear beside the date in Microsoft Calendar.
Updating a task from the Microsoft Calendar
When a task due date, title and description are updated in the Microsoft Calendar it will be updated in BasicOps in real time. In the example below, we see how to update a task from within the Microsoft calendar.
First, click on the task in Microsoft Calendar. In the popup window, click on the pencil icon to edit.
The next window from within Microsoft Calendar will show you more details about the task. Here you can change the name, the due date, the description, and whether the task repeats or not.
Your updated task will appear in BasicOps in the task list and in the Calendar.
How to remove a task from Microsoft Calendar
In Microsoft Calendar you delete the task and the due date is removed.
- In BasicOps, select the task you would like to remove and clear the due date.
- The task will be removed from your Microsoft calendar.
Note: If you delete a task in your calendar, it will only remove the due date in BasicOps, not the task itself.
