You can chat with any BasicOps user in a one-to-one or group conversation directly from the Right Side Bar on the right side of your workspace.
When you start a chat, BasicOps will send a notification to the participants. All previous messages are saved, so you can pick up any conversation right where you left off.

Starting a chat
Click the + (or any chat) icon on the right side of your screen to open the chat panel. Click the New Chat (compose) icon at the top of the Right Side Bar. Search for a team member by name, select them, type your message, and press Enter to send.
You can also start a chat directly from a project or task by clicking the chat icon within that item.
Starting a group chat
Open the Right Side Bar and click the New Chat icon. Search for and select multiple team members, type your message, and press Enter to send.
Editing and deleting messages
You can edit or delete a chat message after it's been sent. Hover over a message to reveal the action menu. Click Edit to modify the message content, then press Enter to save. Click Delete to remove the message permanently.
Attaching a file
During any chat, you can attach a file from your computer or a connected cloud storage service. At the bottom of the chat window, click the paperclip icon and select the source: your computer, Google Drive, Box, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive.

Channels
Channels are shared spaces for team-wide or topic-based conversations. Unlike direct chats, channels are open to all relevant team members and persist over time.
- Browse and join channels from the Chat Directory.
- Create a new channel from the Right Side Bar by clicking New Channel.
- Use channels for ongoing team topics, announcements, or project-related discussions.

Tips
- Use @name to mention a team member and notify them in their Feed.
- Use # followed by a project or task name to insert a direct link to that item in your message.
