BasicOps is intended to be fully customizable so that you can personalize your workspace to match your workflow. As part of this, we have included a few options for you to change how you view the chat and channels.
In this article:
Chat Format Setting
The Chat Format Setting allows you to choose between two options for how you view your messages.
To access the Chat Format Setting:
- Select Settings.
- Select Chat and Channels.
- Select Expanded Chat Message (new style) or Floating Message (old style).
Expanded Chat Message shows each message directly popped out from the chat bar. Messages will not pop-out when received, but you will get a notification. The expanded chat view shows the message thread from the top to bottom of the screen (Image below).
Floating Message shows each chat in a small window overlay. Receiving a chat will open the thread instantly. This view can be expanded by selecting the arrow icon. Clicking on the header of the Floating Message window will collapse it into a smaller portion of the screen (Image below).
Active Chat Bar Setting
The Active Chat Bar shows your most recent messages on the right side of the screen. These message threads will automatically disappear if there is no activity after a certain amount of time. This amount of time can be customized with the Active Chat Bar Setting. The amount of time you select is how long messages will stay on the Active Chat Bar before disappearing due to inactivity. Selecting Never will make message threads stay on the Active Chat Bar indefinitely.
