The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is the standard way AI tools like Claude connect to the products you already use. Once connected, Claude can help you read, create, and manage work inside BasicOps—directly from a conversation. This makes it faster to capture tasks, check project status, and share updates without context switching.
What you’ll need
- A BasicOps account (any plan — no upgrade required)
- A supported AI client: Claude.ai, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, OpenClaw or Cursor
This article will show you how to:
- Open Claude connector settings
- Add BasicOps as an MCP connector
- Authorize BasicOps
- Configure tool permissions
- Verify the connection with a few example prompts
- Troubleshooting
Open Claude connector settings
In Claude.ai, open Settings and go to Connectors.
Add BasicOps as an MCP connector
From the Connectors page, select Add custom connector.
In the connector form:
- Name: BasicOps
- Server URL:
https://app.basicops.com/mcp
Authorize BasicOps
After adding the connector, click Connect. You’ll be redirected to BasicOps to sign in and approve access. Select Allow to complete authorization.
Configure tool permissions
Once connected, choose how Claude should use BasicOps tools:
- Auto-allow for actions you always want Claude to run without asking
- Ask first for actions you want to approve each time
- Disable for anything you don’t want Claude to use
Verify the connection with a few example prompts
- “List all my projects”
- “Create a task in [project name] to review the homepage copy, due Friday”
- “Post a message in the Marketing channel: kickoff moved to 2pm”
- “What changed across my projects today?”
Troubleshooting
I see “access token expired” errors.
Reconnect by re-adding the MCP server in your client settings. You will be prompted to re-authorize.
Claude can’t find my project.
Make sure the project is not archived. Try “List all my projects” to see what is visible.
Can I connect multiple workspaces?
Each MCP connection is tied to one workspace. To switch, disconnect and reconnect with a different workspace login.
Which AI clients are supported?
Any client that supports MCP over Streamable HTTP or SSE (if you connect via SSE, use https://app.basicops.com/mcp/sse. ) More clients are adding MCP support regularly.
