BasicOps integrates with Granola, the AI meeting notepad, so your meeting notes flow directly into your BasicOps workspace. To set up the connection, you'll generate an API key inside Granola and paste it into BasicOps. This article walks you through the whole process, which takes about two minutes.
Before you start
Make sure you have the following ready:
- An active BasicOps account as Admin in your workspace.
- The Granola desktop app installed and signed in to the account whose notes you want to connect.
- Permission in Granola to create API keys (if you're on a team or enterprise plan, your workspace admin may need to enable this).
Step 1: Open the Granola integration in BasicOps
In BasicOps, go to Settings → Integrations, find Granola in the list of available integrations, and click Connect. The Add Granola API Key window will open. Keep this window open while you create your key in the next step.
Step 2: Create an API key in Granola
Switch over to the Granola desktop app and follow these steps to generate a key:
- Open the Granola desktop app.
- Navigate to Settings → Connectors → API keys.
- Click Create new key.
- Choose the note access scopes the key should include. Select the scopes that cover the notes you want BasicOps to be able to access.
- Click Generate API Key.
Granola will display your new API key. Copy it now — for security reasons, Granola will not show the full key again after you close the window.
Step 3: Add the key to BasicOps
Return to the Add Granola API Key window in BasicOps:
- Paste your key into the Enter your Granola API Key field.
- Click Submit.
The reference instructions shown in this window mirror Step 2 above, so you can complete the whole connection without leaving BasicOps:
You're connected
Once you click Submit, BasicOps validates the key and confirms the connection. Your Granola meeting notes will now be available in BasicOps according to the access scopes you selected.
Troubleshooting
- "Invalid API key" error: Double-check that you copied the entire key with no extra spaces. If in doubt, generate a fresh key in Granola and paste the new one.
- Notes aren't appearing: Confirm the key was created with note access scopes that include the notes you expect to see. You may need to create a new key with broader scopes.
- Can't create a key in Granola: API key creation may be restricted by your Granola plan or workspace settings. Ask your Granola workspace admin to enable API access for your account.
- Need to disconnect: To revoke access, delete the API key in Granola under Settings → Connectors → API keys, or remove the Granola integration from BasicOps Settings → Integrations.
