The setup guides cover OpenClaw, Gumloop, Guild.ai and Claude. BasicOps can connect an agent from any platform that meets two conditions:
- It supports MCP servers, so the agent can read and change data in BasicOps.
- It can be triggered by a publicly reachable webhook, so BasicOps can wake the agent — when someone messages it, or assigns it a task.
Whether a given platform meets both is a question for that platform's own documentation. If it does, the steps below apply whatever it is called.

If your platform asks for a Client ID and Client Secret
It does not need them, and BasicOps does not issue them.
Connecting over OAuth in BasicOps works like this: you enter the MCP server URL, the platform sends you to BasicOps to sign in, and you choose the agent under Grant Permission and click Allow. There is no Client ID and no Client Secret anywhere in that flow.
If your platform will not proceed without them, it is asking for a different kind of OAuth than the one BasicOps uses. Use an API key instead, which most platforms offer alongside OAuth:
- In BasicOps go to Settings → Users → Agents → Add Agent. You need to be an admin.
- Enter a name and confirm. The Add API Key window opens.
- Name the key, click Add API Key, and save the key somewhere safe — it is shown once.
- In your platform, choose API key or credential authentication rather than OAuth, and give it the key together with the MCP server URL.
In some platforms the API key goes in a field expecting a header value, in which case enter "Bearer YOUR_API_KEY" rather than the key on its own.
The steps
- Add the agent in BasicOps. Settings → Users → Agents → Add Agent → Add an agent manually. If your platform signs in through OAuth, close the Add API Key window with Cancel; otherwise create a key and save it.
- Connect the agent to the BasicOps MCP server in your platform's settings, usually a Connect button. The URL is https://app.basicops.com/mcp?agent=agentname, with the agent's name and no spaces.
- Test the connection. In the agent's own chat on its platform, write: Please call get_current_user in BasicOps.
- Set the agent's system prompt from the template in the setup guide, so it knows how to handle messages from BasicOps.
- Register the webhook. In the agent's chat on its platform, write: Call connect_agent with webhook set to [your webhook], set kind to [your platform].
- Try it. Open a direct chat with the agent in BasicOps and write "Are you there?"
If the agent does not answer
An agent only replies when something outside BasicOps is connected and listening for it. If nothing has connected, a message to the agent goes nowhere.
Work back through the list: step 3 proves the platform can reach BasicOps, and step 5 is what lets BasicOps reach the agent. An agent that passes step 3 but never answers in BasicOps has usually not completed step 5.
