BasicOps is your base of operations, a place where your team comes together to plan work, communicate, and get things done. It's built to be straightforward: powerful enough for complex projects, simple enough that your whole team will actually use it.
This article will cover:
Project management
Create projects to structure your work, build task lists to prioritize what matters, and assign tasks to keep everyone accountable. Views like List, Board, Table, Calendar, and Timeline let you and your team see work the way that makes sense for each situation.
Track progress with status updates, organize tasks into sections, and use custom fields to capture the information your team needs.
Communication
BasicOps keeps conversations connected to your work.
- Chat & Channels - Message teammates one-to-one, spin up group chats, or use Channels for team-wide and topic-based conversations. Everything is accessible from the ChatBar.
- Discussions - Have in-context conversations directly inside a project or task. Comments, files, and mentions all live alongside the work they relate to.
- Feed - Your Feed surfaces everything that's relevant to you: new assignments, status changes, mentions, comments, and more.
Notes
Notes let you capture and share information at every level. They can be attached to a task, shared within a project, or kept in your own personal notes view. Write free-form content, build structured notes with tables and headers, drag and drop content blocks, and lock notes when they're ready to publish.
Notes are designed for real work: meeting summaries, briefs, documentation, runbooks, and anything else your team needs to write and share.
AI via MCP
BasicOps connects to AI assistants, including Claude and ChatGPT, through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This lets your AI tools read and act on your BasicOps data directly: creating tasks, summarizing projects, searching across your workspace, and more.
MCP turns your AI assistant into a working member of your team. See Connecting BasicOps to Claude via MCP to get started.
Integrations
BasicOps connects with the tools your team already uses, including Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Webex, Microsoft OneDrive, Dropbox, Box, GitHub, JIRA, and Zapier.
